Taupo Ika Nui

Ika Nui Timeshare NZ

How does holiday ownership work at our world-class timeshare resort?

Does the idea of holiday ownership appleal to you? Do you want to take advantage of the great benefits that come with owning timeshare in NZ? Here's a guide as to how our system works.

What sort of holiday ownership is available at Ika Nui?

Taupo Ika Nui Timeshare Resort comprises 28 fully furnished self-contained apartments (6 two-bedroom apartments and 22 one-bedroom apartments) which are all divided into 52 periods per year – one for each week. One week out of those 52 weeks is set aside for maintenance in every timeshare resort.

Taupo Ika Nui is title based (for 999 years), giving the owner an undivided interest in the entire property. With 28 units in our NZ timeshare complex, each purchaser owns 1/1428th interest in the entire property (28 units x 51 weeks). Your freehold title deeds can be inherited, gifted, sold or kept for use forever. A Body Corporate Committee of owners is elected annually by the owners to control the management of the timeshare resort on their behalf.

Like most timeshare resorts in Australasia, Taupo Ika Nui has a mainly 'floating' system of holiday ownership, with a few owners owning 'fixed' weeks over the Christmas/January holiday period.

Holiday Ownership - Fixed Weeks (incl. Holiday & 'Ski' Weeks)

Fixed bookings guarantee the owners the same unit in the same week each year.

Holiday Ownership - Floating Weeks

Around 99% of our timeshare resort owners are 'floating week owners', giving them the flexibility to book the apartment of their choice in the week they prefer (subject to availability) with bookings open for confirmation 32 weeks ahead. 'Pencil bookings' will be accepted before that, but can be subject to ballot at the 32-week mark if there are more bookings than units. This normally only happens over the Christmas/New Year period. Unit allocation is random with floating time, but you may request certain units at the time of making your booking and the managers will endeavour to oblige if the units are not already committed.

What if I don't use my time?

It is important to book your holiday as early as possible each year to ensure you get the apartment and time you want as they do not carry over to the next year. If you don't think you can use your time in one year you can 'space bank' your week/s with an exchange company where they can be called upon at any time over the next 3 years.

How do I buy timeshare at Taupo Ika Nui Timeshare Resort?

Taupo Ika Nui has 1- and 2-bedroom floating and fixed weeks for sale on behalf of owners.

We take care of all the paper work for you at Taupo Ika Nui and once we have a signed Sale and Purchase Agreement we forward this to Malcolm Mounsey Clarke Lawyers in Taupo. From this point Malcolm Mounsey Clarke Lawyers will act as your Representatives throughout the purchase. They will hold your money in trust, register the transfer and pay out the vendor and will then send you your ownership title, pooling deed and pre-settlement disclosure statement on behalf of Taupo Ika Nui. All going well, the entire process shouldn't take any longer than 4 to 6 weeks.

Buying a resale timeshare in a unit means getting exactly the same quality and standards the original owner had when they bought new but at a much more realistic price.
